The women’s singles finalists of the 2026 Australian Open in Melbourne have been decided. Aryna Sabalenka defeated Elina Svitolina, while Elena Rybakina overcame Jessica Pegula — they will meet in Saturday’s finalб according to the tournament results.
Sabalenka defeats Svitolina, reaches fourth consecutive final
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka defeated Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the semifinals of the 2026 Australian Open. The match ended 6-2, 6-3 in favor of the Belarusian player.
This marks Sabalenka’s fourth consecutive final in Melbourne; she previously triumphed in 2023 and 2024.
Rybakina beats Pegula in straight sets, returns to major final
World No. 5 Elena Rybakina defeated American Jessica Pegula 6-3, 7-6(7).
In the second set, Pegula saved three match points but failed to convert two set points in the tiebreak, giving the Kazakh player the victory.
This is Rybakina’s second Grand Slam final after the 2023 Australian Open, where she also faced Sabalenka and lost in three sets.
The 2026 Australian Open women’s singles final will take place on Saturday, January 31.
Rybakina secured her fourth win in seven head-to-head matches against Pegula. In the final, she will face Sabalenka, who holds eight wins in their 14 previous encounters.
