The US Secret Service arrested a man near the White House who was carrying three firearms, reports the Associated Press. He said he heard voices telling him to travel to Washington and kill Trump.
The arrest took place Thursday evening, November 5. Secret Service agents approached a man who was acting suspiciously inside a parked vehicle.
According to US officials, the man told them he heard voices in his head. They had allegedly instructed him to travel to the nation's capital and kill the president.
It soon emerged that the vehicle had been reported stolen. Three firearms and dozens of rounds of ammunition were found inside.
The suspect was identified as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos. According to the Department of Homeland Security, he is a Venezuelan migrant who is in the US illegally. He entered the country through Texas in March 2024.
He has already been charged and is currently in the custody of the US Marshals Service.
The White House did not comment on the situation, referring questions to the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service.
Threats to Trump's life are not new. On the night of April 26 Kyiv time, during a dinner between the US president and White House pool journalists at the Washington Hilton hotel, an armed man forced his way through a security checkpoint and opened fire. Trump was quickly evacuated, and one of his security officers was wounded. His bulletproof vest saved him from being killed.
The shooter was identified as 31-year-old Cole Allen, a teacher from Torrance, California, who was arrested at the scene. Later, according to media reports, he confessed that he had planned to shoot members of the Trump administration.
