American singer Ariana Grande will temporarily step away from the public eye after wrapping up her Eternal Sunshine world tour. The decision comes amid intense public scrutiny over her health and appearance, according to People.

Why Ariana Grande plans to disappear from the spotlight

According to a representative for the 33-year-old singer, she will take a break from public life after the final show of her tour in London on September 1.

Grande wants to end the tour "on a high note" and give herself a well-deserved break.

"She is looking forward to finishing the tour healthy and happy, and taking a well-earned break from public work and appearances at events that have led to endless attention and constant discussion," the representative said.

A source close to the singer said that Grande has been performing in excellent form every night and that the tour has been a major success.

As part of her decision to take a break, Grande will also no longer appear in the London production of Sunday in the Park with George, which was scheduled to open next summer at the Barbican Centre. She had been set to star alongside her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey.

Why Ariana's appearance is once again a topic of discussion

In recent years, the singer's appearance has frequently been discussed on social media after she lost a significant amount of weight.

The latest wave of comments followed the release of the music video for "Petal," a track from her album of the same name, which was released on July 31.

Users once again expressed concern, saying the star appeared extremely thin in the video.

"I love Ariana Grande so much, and this video scares me... and no angry fan is going to stop me from saying that."

"I can't even enjoy this video without thinking about how unwell she looks every second she's on screen."

"Being worried about her isn't the same as judging her body."

"This is just heartbreaking. I don't want a single girl to think this is normal or something to aspire to."

"I hope the people around her are taking care of her."

"The fact that her team calls this 'public discussion' instead of 'concern for her health' says a lot."

"I hope she realizes that many people commenting on her weight loss are doing so because they genuinely care about her."

"I'm really worried about her health. This isn't normal. Someone, please help her."

What Ariana Grande says

The singer has previously responded to the public attention surrounding her appearance. In her 2024 Eternal Sunshine track "Yes, And?", she urged people to stop commenting on her body.

According to the source, "Petal" also serves as a response to what Grande sees as the public's toxic scrutiny.

"This album is a battle cry, an anthem about her complicated relationship with the public and its toxicity. It's not about a romantic relationship or a breakup," the insider explained.
