Choosing cooking oil can quickly become a real quest in the supermarket. Shelves are filled with dozens of options from sunflower to coconut oil. But experts emphasize that not all oils are equally healthy, and the right choice can significantly impact your well-being.

Daily Express reports on which oil is healthiest for frying.

Most beneficial oil

Nutrition experts agree: extra virgin olive oil is the best option for daily use. It is rich in monounsaturated fats, which support heart and brain health and reduce inflammation.

In addition, it contains polyphenols—powerful antioxidants that protect cells from damage and slow aging.

Can you fry with olive oil?

The popular myth that olive oil becomes toxic when heated is false. Experts explain that it is stable at most cooking temperatures.

For best results, do not exceed 190–200°C, to preserve its beneficial properties.

Alternative for high heat

For frying at high temperatures, avocado oil is a better choice. It has a high smoke point and a similar fat composition, making it ideal for grilling or intense frying.

Oils to limit

Experts advise caution with:

  • Refined oils

  • Products high in saturated fats (palm, coconut)

  • Highly processed “industrial” oils

When heated, these can oxidize and form harmful compounds.

How to choose quality oil

To get the most benefits:

  • Choose cold-pressed oils

  • Look for dark bottles

  • Avoid blends and very cheap options
