Airfield in Belgorod: Russians build new facility near border with Ukraine
Russians are constructing a new airbase in the Belgorod region, situated 75 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, according to satellite images published by OSINT researcher RedIntel Panda.
"After the winter thaw, work has resumed. On 27 April 2024 a base layer or paving itself is ongoing on the runway. Sentinel Hub measures the runway at about 1800 meters," the report says.
The SSU (Security Service of Ukraine) recently launched drone attacks on the Russian airbase Kushchevskaya in the Krasnodar region.
Ukrainian forces also recently attacked an airbase in Dzhankoy. As a result of the strike, the Russians lost 4 S-400 missile launcher units, 3 radar stations, and a command post for air defense assets.
Prior to this, Ukrainian forces attacked an airbase where the Russians stored Tu-95 bombers, which the enemy uses to strike Ukrainian cities.
