Russian forces launched an overnight attack on Ukraine using strike drones, a cruise missile, and ballistic missiles. Air defense forces destroyed most of the incoming targets, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

"The enemy attacked with 24 Iskander-M/S-300 ballistic missiles from Russia’s Bryansk, Voronezh, and Rostov regions, as well as from temporarily occupied Crimea, one Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missile, and 219 strike UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas drones and other types," the Air Force said.

According to the military, the main targets of the strike were Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Odesa. The air assault was repelled by Ukraine's Defense Forces, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, drone units, and mobile fire groups.

As of 9:00 a.m. local time, preliminary data show that air defenses shot down or suppressed 213 aerial targets.

Air defense forces destroyed:

  • 15 Iskander-M/S-300 ballistic missiles

  • 1 Kh-59/69 guided air missile

  • 197 enemy drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and others

At the same time, 9 missiles and 19 strike drones hit 13 locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell in 14 locations.

Following the massive attack on Kyiv, 3,700 buildings were left without heating, and around 107,000 households temporarily lost electricity.

Russian forces also struck a DTEK energy facility in the Odesa region, causing significant destruction that will require extensive repairs.
