7 stars who are blacklisted in Hollywood
Scandals, conflicts, or simply awkward behavior can put an end to your career, even if you were at the height of your fame.
Vanessa Marquez
In the 1990s, Vanessa Marquez appeared in the hospital drama ER, where she played nurse Wendy Goldman. According to her, after she openly spoke about the harassment that took place during the filming of this famous series, George Clooney allegedly helped to end her career in Hollywood. The actor himself categorically denied these accusations.

“I had nothing to do with the casting. I was an actor and only an actor. If she was told that I was involved in any decision about her career, then she was lied to. The fact that I couldn't influence her career is only surpassed by the fact that I didn't,” he said.
After completing her work on the ER series, Vanessa Marquez received only a few minor roles. In August 2018, she was tragically killed in her own home by a police officer.
Mel Gibson
In 2006, Mel Gibson found himself at the center of a scandal over his offensive anti-Semitic remarks made during an arrest for driving under the influence. This event turned him into a persona non grata in Hollywood.
From 2006 to 2010, he got only one role in the movie “Edge of Darkness”. The situation worsened in 2010 when the actor became involved in a high-profile scandal for threatening his former partner Oksana Grigorieva. This forced the talent agency William Morris Endeavor Entertainment to terminate his contract, effectively closing the door to the industry.

It was only in recent years that Gibson began to return to filmmaking. His directorial work “For reasons of conscience” received critical acclaim and six Oscar nominations, including a nomination for Best Director. This success was an important step in rehabilitating his reputation in Hollywood.
Mira Sorvino
Mira Sorvino was one of the actresses whose career was seriously damaged by Harvey Weinstein after she refused to give in to his sexual harassment.
In an interview with Ronan Farrow, she said that she had openly refused Weinstein several times and even turned to colleagues at Miramax to report his behavior. However, after that, she began to notice that her career was gradually declining.

“There may have been other factors, but I definitely felt frozen and that my rejection of Harvey had something to do with it,” she said.
In December 2017, director Peter Jackson said that Harvey Weinstein deliberately spoiled Mira Sorvino's reputation. According to him, Weinstein convinced him that working with the actress was a real “nightmare” and that she should be “avoided at all costs.”
Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen was once one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, but since 2014, his career has been in serious trouble after his work in the sitcom Anger Management. The actor even claimed that he was blacklisted by Hollywood.
This became known when he asked the court to reduce the alimony he paid to his ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller. In the documents, he noted that he could not find a stable job because he was blacklisted in many areas of the entertainment industry.

Although he did not go into details, many believe it may be due to his erratic behavior, particularly after he was fired from the TV series Two and a Half Men in 2011.
Ashley Judd
After Mira Sorvino, Ashley Judd was also blacklisted by Hollywood for refusing to accept sexual harassment from Harvey Weinstein. In December 2017, director Peter Jackson confirmed that Weinstein had deliberately vilified Judd, telling him during the casting for the Lord of the Rings trilogy that Ashley was “difficult to work with” and should not be worked with “at any cost.” This was the reason why Jackson crossed her off the list of possible candidates for the role.

In May 2018, Ashley Judd filed a lawsuit against Weinstein, accusing him of defamation. She claimed that the false statements he made significantly limited her ability to work in the industry.
Rose McGowan
Rose McGowan, best known for her role in the WB series Charmed, also claimed that Harvey Weinstein blacklisted her in Hollywood. The actress claimed that in the late 90s, he abused her, after which, instead of taking legal action, she entered into a $100,000 settlement with him. However, this incident caused her career to take a serious hit.

Director Robert Rodriguez tried to help the actress return to the industry by offering her a role in his movie “Rindhouse”, which was created under the auspices of the Weinstein Company. Despite receiving high critical acclaim, the film failed at the box office. McGowan believes that this happened because Weinstein deliberately “buried” the project, thus not giving her a chance to resume her career.
Katherine Heigl
Katherine Heigl was one of the most sought-after actresses. There are rumors that she has a difficult personality on set. According to insiders who worked on Life As It Is, her behavior was problematic and many described her as a pain.

“She has big movie star expectations - she wants the best. Her reputation is so bad that many people in Hollywood don't even consider her for roles - she's not worth it. It remains to be seen whether Katherine will be able to really restore her reputation,” her colleagues describe her.
