7 cleaning ideas to help you start new week with ease
The end of the weekend can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially if your busy schedule leaves little time for home cleaning. However, a few simple cleaning tasks done on Sunday can help set a positive tone for the upcoming week.
Better Homes & Gardens website suggests that tackling certain cleaning chores on Sunday can make starting the new week easier.
Plan your tasks
Before starting your Sunday reset, create an atmosphere where you feel motivated and productive. Light a candle, play some music, or open a window - whatever helps you relax and get inspired.
Then, take a journal and start planning your cleaning tasks and your week. What meals will you prepare? What tasks will you have? Write it all down so your week doesn’t seem so overwhelming.
Wash the dishes
Another important cleaning task for a smooth start to the new week is washing the dishes. Empty and load the dishwasher, and wash pots and pans by hand.
Although washing dishes may not be the most enjoyable task, you’ll feel much better on Monday morning with a clean, empty sink rather than a dirty, overflowing one.
Tidy up clutter
Begin your cleaning by going through each room and tidying up any places where clutter has accumulated over the week. Pick up and put away items lying on the floor, tables, or nightstands.
Dispose of any trash that didn’t make it to the bin and straighten up blankets left on the couch or bed. Don’t forget your refrigerator: clear out old or spoiled food to make room for what you’ll buy this week.
Wipe surfaces
Wipe down surfaces in every room using cleaning products that are safe for countertops, appliances, and sinks. If you prefer sprays over universal wipes, use paper towels or a microfiber cloth to clean the surfaces.
Wash and fold laundry
No one likes to wake up in the morning and spend time deciding what to wear. To ensure you look and feel your best on Monday morning, gather dirty clothes and do the laundry on Sunday evening.
Even though it might be tempting to leave freshly washed and dried laundry in the basket, remember to fold and put away all clothes as needed to start the week with a clean wardrobe.
Vacuum
Once the floor is clear of clutter, start vacuuming. Make sure to vacuum all the high-traffic rugs, shaking them out if necessary.
If your vacuum is not safe to use on hard floors, use a dry mop to collect pet hair or dust.
Change bed linens
Nothing beats the feeling of fresh, clean, and laundered bed linens. To get a good night's sleep before the new week starts, toss your bed linens in the wash and replace them with a new set.
