5 proven ways to speed up your PC and boost FPS

If your favorite game has started to lag and the frames drop at the most inconvenient moments, it means it's time to tidy up your operating system. Fortunately, there are simple yet effective ways to restore smoothness and increase FPS without upgrading your PC, according to the technology website PCWorld.
Clear the browser cache and close tabs
When browsing web pages, your browser stores images, fonts, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript code to save bandwidth. This is generally good because pages load faster. However, the downside is that it can use up RAM. To counter this, clear the browser cache before playing.
Additionally, it's better not to play with browser tabs open in Windows. Tests show that just 20 open tabs in Google Chrome can use up to 1.8 GB of RAM.
Close programs in Task Manager
Windows Task Manager is a great tool for monitoring RAM usage. You'd be surprised at how many programs run in the background on Windows, consuming memory without your knowledge.
Often, these are applications for gaming peripherals and communication programs that load by default in Windows, whether you need them or not. Therefore, you should close or disable those that aren’t necessary.
To do this, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, then right-click and select "End Task" for the programs or apps you want to close.
To disable their startup when Windows boots, select "Startup" in the left menu, then right-click on the application and select "Disable" in Task Manager.

Use optimization tools
There are many apps that can clear up RAM, but it's better to use those specifically designed for gamers, as they offer more game-specific optimizations.
One such app is Razer Cortex. Its Game Booster feature disables unnecessary apps and processes, freeing up RAM as soon as the game launches. It also optimizes the processor, which boosts FPS. Razer Cortex allows you to manually control performance and make adjustments to settings, giving you full control when needed.
Update drivers and BIOS firmware
When your PC’s device drivers and BIOS firmware are outdated, it can lead to excessive RAM usage. As a result, your PC may run slowly or become prone to instability or crashes during games.
Regularly updating these important components will help avoid such issues. It only takes a few minutes but ensures higher FPS and eliminates the frustration of figuring out what's wrong when games start lagging or crashing.
Use a gaming browser
Browsers like Opera GX and Vivaldi run much lighter on the OS and consume significantly less RAM compared to Google Chrome, which can lead to better performance in games. They also include additional features specifically designed for gamers.
