Looking for healthy food options? Experts have shared five types of cheese that are suitable for any diet and offer numerous health benefits for the body.

Strona Zdrowia reveals which cheeses are the healthiest.

How to choose cheese

When selecting cheese, look for one that contains only milk, salt, rennet, and bacterial cultures. This ensures you are choosing a product of the highest quality. Such cheese is rich in nutrients, as it is an excellent source of protein necessary for tissue and muscle building and repair.

It contains calcium, which is important for bone and tooth health. The calcium in cheese is easily absorbed by the body, making it a vital element in the diet, especially for children, teenagers, pregnant women, and the elderly. Cheese also provides B vitamins, vitamins A and D, as well as minerals like phosphorus, zinc, and selenium. However, be cautious with cheese consumption, as it is a high-calorie product.

Therefore, it's better to consume cheese in moderation if you're trying to lose weight or maintain a slim figure. Many cheeses, especially yellow cheeses, also contain high amounts of saturated fats, which can raise cholesterol levels in the blood and increase the risk of heart disease.

Some cheeses are also high in sodium, which can contribute to increased blood pressure. However, people with lactose intolerance should avoid certain types of cheese. Cheese can be part of a healthy diet, but only if we choose the right types and consume it in moderation. So, which one should you choose?

Which cheeses are the healthiest

Cheeses with lower fat and sodium content and higher levels of protein, calcium, and other nutrients are considered healthier.
