Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency gained access to a secret US Department of Justice system containing data on millions of migrants, raising concerns about privacy, reports The Washington Post.

This system, called ECAS, contains data on millions of legal and illegal migrants. It includes names, addresses, medical histories, court testimonies, and interactions with law enforcement. Access to the system was granted to a group of DOGE advisors affiliated with Musk's private entities.

The Department of Justice did not confirm to journalists whether access was actually granted and declined to comment.

The media notes that DOGE is trying to gain access to various federal data sets.

According to preliminary reports, the department forced over 6,000 immigrants to voluntarily leave the US after mistakenly listing them as deceased.

The Washington Post expresses concern over such actions, emphasizing that access to such systems is typically restricted to specially trained government personnel.

Media outlets reported yesterday that the US government suffered a major privacy breach when thousands of federal employees gained access to secret documents, including White House plans and security information. According to The Washington Post, these documents became accessible due to careless use of the Google Drive platform.
