Explosions reported in Kyiv amid ballistic missile threat

A series of explosions rocked Kyiv overnight on Thursday, August 28, as Russia used ballistic weapons, according to an RBC-Ukraine correspondent.
Around 3:00 AM Kyiv time, a series of explosions were heard in Kyiv. According to the Air Force, a high-speed target was moving from the north toward the Kyiv region. Preliminary reports said Russia launched ballistic missiles from the Bryansk region.
As of 3:10 AM Kyiv time, there were no reports of casualties or destruction, though smoke was visible over the capital. At the same time, most Ukrainian regions remained under a massive Shahed drone attack.
At 3:15 AM Kyiv time, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said medics had been dispatched to the city’s Dnipro district. “An ambulance crew is heading to the site. The air raid alert continues. Stay in shelters,” he wrote.
At 3:26 AM Kyiv time, Emergency services were deployed to Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi, Darnytskyi, and Desnianskyi districts after falling debris was reported.
At 3:52 AM Kyiv time, Klitschko reported preliminary damage to two residential buildings in the Darnytskyi district. Several other locations in the district also required medical teams.
